United Way of Alexander County is an independent, locally operated nonprofit agency. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. United Way raises funds for our community’s most critical health and human service needs. We distribute the funds to nonprofit agencies in Alexander County whose services address these needs. Community members, serving on the United Way volunteer committees, allocate the funds to the agencies.

Mission Statement (revised 1/9/07)

The mission of United Way of Alexander County is to service and assist all county residents in utilizing the resources of our agencies and to utilize our agencies in fund-raising events in order to reach our financial goals established by the Board of Directors.

Vision Statement
We will build a stronger America by mobilizing our communities to improve people’s lives.

Goals of the Board of Directors
(established 1/9/07 Board Meeting)

Service – We need to develop and measure what value the United Way is providing to the citizens of Alexander County in terms of service and dollar amounts.

Awareness – As the Board of Directors we need to highlight the services we provide through our agencies that goes beyond word of mouth and into different media sources.  This could be a feature story about one of the agencies’ clients that has been helped in their time of need.  The Taylorsville Times, local radio, and even the involvement of a network news agency such as WBTV can be employed on how our agencies help improve our neighbors life.  We need citizens of Alexander County to view the United Way as a positive good neighbor that is in the business of helping improve the situations of people that are in need.

Make your carin
g count by investing in human lives. You can depend on United Way to give you a good return. Funds are targeted toward the most critical needs in our community and cost to provide these services are kept to a minimum.

We must continue to invest in our community and in each other. We must ensure our children are safe, our families are strong and secure, and people in need have a place to turn. The stronger we make our community, the stronger we become.

Never does a day pass that many people benefit from the services of United Way agencies. Make your caring count in Alexander County is the best way to touch many lives of others in a positive manner.
